January 2019

From all of us at Lynn Valley Care Centre we would like to wish you and yours a very Happy and Healthy 2019!

We hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season. We are in the midst of our Family Night Christmas Parties and they have been very successful so far. We wish to thank all the family members who attended and made these events so special for our residents. Special thanks to our cooks and dietary aides for preparing and serving all of the delicious platters.

Once again, we would like to extend an invitation to family & friends of our residents who would like to join us for Christmas Dinner on December 25th. (Please note: Christmas Dinner will be served at SUPPER time on the 25th). Please let us know by signing one of the reservation books located at the nursing stations by December 18th. Unfortunately, due to the limited space in our dining rooms, we can only accommodate two guests per resident family. We will be charging $10 per guest.

If you are planning to take your family member home for any of the meals over the holidays, please let us know, using the same reservation books.

To end the year on a high note, our New Year’s Eve Candle Light Dinner will be held for the evening meals on Monday, December 31st, featuring Baked Salmon paired with asparagus and gnocchi in a pesto cream sauce and Crème Brulee for Dessert.

We would also like to let everyone know that we have now changed over to our new winter menu and will be trying out some new recipes. Feedback is welcome as we are always looking to improve!

INFECTION CONTROL

Influenza Alert

We need your help to keep our residents and staff safe during influenza season.

Lynn Valley Care Center is here to protect and enhance the well-being of our residents and staff. We are aware that the comfort and support provided by family, friends, and pets are vital for the provision of care to our residents.

However, our residents have weakened immune systems and we must keep their exposure to viruses and other contagious illnesses to a minimum.

If you are experiencing one or more of the following:

  • Cough
  • Cold
  • Fever
  • Nausea and /or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

We ask that you refrain from visiting until you are well

All visitors must clean their hands upon arrival of the facility, before and after they enter a resident room using an alcohol-based sanitizer. We would also encourage everyone to have the flu shot, which can substantially reduce the risk of contracting or communicating the virus.

Thank you for working with us to keep our residents safe.

HOUSEKEEPING/LAUNDRY

A reminder about gifts of clothing: Please have all new clothing gifts labeled before they are worn, otherwise they may find their way to the Lost & Found rack in our Laundry Room.

Please place new clothing items in a bag labeled with the resident’s name and give to the Nurse, who will ensure it gets sent down separately for labeling by our Laundry staff.
